Sustainable Biofuels Crops Project

The three-­‐year Sustainable Biofuel Crops Project was launched in early 2008 with  a $1,098,723 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The overall goal of the project was to support  the development of a sustainable global biofuels industry by ensuring that biofuel crop production is not a threat to biodiversity.

Responsible Cultivation Areas for Biofuels: Sustainability in Practice

These documents present the process and results of the pilot test of the Responsible Cultivation Areas (RCA) methodology in Pará, Brazil. The pilot test looked at the identification of “degraded” or “underutilized” sites for oil palm cultivation. The three documents together compose a record of Conservation International’s (CI) experience pilot testing the RCA methodology
